World War II Expert to Speak at Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) in Rumson

It is one of the last, great untold stories of World War II.

In observance of Holocaust Commemoration Day, Dr. Steven Remy will lecture on “Camp Ritchie and the German-Jewish GI’s Who Defeated the Nazis” on Sunday April 23, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. Called “the strangest place in the US,” Camp Ritchie in Maryland was the site of specialized intelligence training that helped the US prevail over the Nazis.  Several thousand Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany served in the US Army during the war and provided Allied forces with invaluable information.  You will hear from the “Ritchie Boys” themselves as they tell their stories.

Dr Remy is a Professor of Modern European and German History at Brooklyn College & the Graduate Center of City University of New York. He is the author of The Malmedy Massacre: The War Crimes Trial Controversy (Harvard, 2017) and The Heidelberg Myth: The Nazification and Denazification of a German University (Harvard, 2003).

This program is sponsored by the CBI Adult Education Committee. It isfree and open to the public.  For further information, contact Executive Director Emilie Kovit-Meyer: emilie.kovit-meyer@cbirumson.org ,732-842-1800 x 203.
