Scuba and the Beast Restaurant Comes to Highlands

Scuba and the Beast Highlands NJ

If you’ve ever taken the Seastreak Ferry in Highlands, NJ you’ve passed this tan building located on Shore Drive which was formerly known as Havana Tropical Cafe. They served traditional Cuban food and were known for their koi fish pond. Havana opened in June of 2007 and closed on New Year’s Eve of 2017.

Soon to take up residence in the same tan structure is Scuba and the Beast which will be opening on Memorial Day Weekend. This upscale casual restaurant will be serving everything from lobster rolls to steak. They are also proud to boast a raw seafood bar serving the freshest New Jersey catches.

The name, Scuba and the Beast is a play on surf and turf. Owners Tom Holbrook and Stephen Hayek were college roommates at Johnson & Wales University. The students became masters and made their dream a reality when they opened their food truck in Point Pleasant, NJ. A venture proved to be a big success and the duo decided to take things to the next level. So here we are, anxiously awaiting the big grand opening!
