Rumson St. Patrick’s Parade Irish Poster Contest

What do Christina Aguilera, Drew Barrymore, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Julia Stiles, Taylor Swift, and Mark Wahlberg all have in common? They are all artists with Irish roots who have left their mark in American film and music. The Rumson St Patrick’s Parade Irish Poster Contest wishes to celebrate the contributions of these and other acclaimed Irish-American actors/actresses and musicians (past or present) to American culture.

The Rumson St Patrick’s Parade Irish Poster Contest invites all Fair Haven and Rumson students in grades K through 8 to create a poster of their favorite artist that highlights the contributions of this Irish-American actor/actress or musician (past or present) to American culture and celebrates his/her Irish heritage. The poster must feature an image of the Irish-American actor/actress or musician and be complemented by a written statement that best details the figure’s contributions to their respective craft and provides evidence of his/her Irish roots. All artwork must be original.

Poster sizes can range from 11″ x 17″ to 18” x 24. Students must record their name, age, school, and contact information on the back of the posters. Posters will be grouped and judged in one of the following grade categories:

K-3rd Grade – 1st prize award: $ 50
4th-8th Grade – 1st price award: $100

Posters can be dropped off at the Rumson Oceanic Free Library (Attn: Irish Poster Contest) for display no later than Monday, March 6. Winners will be announced on Friday, March 10. All poster artists are invited to march together as a group in the parade.

The Rumson St Patricks’ Irish Poster Contest is committed to promoting Irish history, culture, tradition, and its influence by offering a competitive outlet for students with creativity, heart, and passion while further defining the connection between Ireland and America. For more information, visit
