Middletown Township Police Department Joins National Night Out

Middletown Township has announced that the Police Department will be holding its first National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 1 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The event will be held outdoors at police headquarters and in the police lobby and court room, located at 1 Kings Highway in Middletown.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This nationwide movement brings together communities and generates support for local anti-crime efforts by asking residents to spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.

“This event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, and is an informal way to meet members of the department,” said Middletown Township Police Chief Craig Weber. “We encourage everyone to come out to show how strong we are as a community and that we’ll continue to fight against crime together to keep our neighborhoods safe.”

In addition to having the opportunity to meet and learn more about the Middletown Township Police Department, there will be car seat installations, a DWI simulation course, K-9 demonstrations, Ident-A-Kid fingerprinting kits, internet safety presentations, volunteer police auxiliary unit information tables, and a police vehicle and equipment display.

“We hope that our community members will come out to celebrate our township’s commitment to safety, and the officers who help keep it that way, at this informational and fun event,” said Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger.

National Night Out involves thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world. More than 38 million people are expected to participate in this year’s event.
