A Message from the Family of Cpl. Dan Baldassare of Colts Neck

On July 10, 2017, our family suffered a great loss with the passing of Cpl. Dan Baldassare during a Marine C-130 mishap. Dan always wanted to be in the military. He died while living his dream. He excelled in his short military career by attaining a rank of Corporal in 21 months and Crew master in 22 months. Our family couldnโ€™t be prouder of what Dan accomplished in such a short period.

The outpouring of support, love, and respect that we received from family, friends, town of Colts Neck, and the US Marine Corps has left us speechless. The Colts Neck community, as well as surrounding communities, displayed an immense level of respect and honor towards Danโ€™s military service and ultimate sacrifice. For this effort, our hearts are filled with gratitude and love.

The Baldassare family would like to thank everyone that made the memorial possible. A special thank you and our deepest gratitude is extended to Mayor of Colts Neck, Russel Macnow, Colts Neck Police Chief Kevin Sauter, and the whole Colts Neck Police Department as well as the corresponding police departments, Sheriff and Chief of Police Association, Shawn Finney of the New Jersey State Police, Colts Neck Fire Department Fire Chief Michael Romano and the whole Colts Neck Fire Department as well as the fire departments in the surrounding towns, Colts Neck High School Principal Dr. Brian Donahue and the Freehold Regional School District staff, Craig Morcom and the Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, Steve Warendorf for providing the sound system, Holly Morgan and all the volunteers that provided flags, memorial banners, or donated time and money to the memorial services, Sandy Anderson and Linda Evans for the research and planning assistance, Joseph DeAngelo and the Marine Corps League, our neighbors in the Colts Neck Grande and all our Colts Neck neighbors, the Strength and Honor Motorcycle Club and the Rolling Thunder, the Colts Neck High School JROTC, our family and friends that sent an abundance of foods and drinks, and of course, Staff Sergeant Hoffman and the US Marine Corps for all their support.

For the beautiful religious ceremony, we would like to thank Deacon Vincent Rinaldi, Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Lee, and the choir group of Saint Maryโ€™s Church, Rev. Scott Brown of the Colts Neck Reformed Church, and Associate Pastor Jim Quigley of the Colts Neck Community Church.

Please accept our sincere thank you for all of your kindness. We will long remember your sympathy in our recent loss. Dan loved Colts Neck, loved New Jersey, loved the USA, and most of all, Dan loved the USMC. May God bless you all and may God bless America.

Thank you,

The Baldassare Family
