Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat August 11-13

This August, the legendary story of Joseph, son of Israel, is dancing right out of the pages of Genesis and onto the Henderson Theater stage at Christian Brothers Academy with the Premier Theatre Company. Under new leadership, Premier, in collaboration with Pegasus Production Company, is proud to announce Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Get ready for an all-new experience as we revamp a Premier favorite! This show, a tour-de-force of choreography, music, and special effects is sure to push every limit of what is expected in musical theatre. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will run August 11th-13th, one weekend only!

Joseph tells the story of a mystical young man loved by his father and envied by his brothers. Joseph, an interpreter of dreams, is sold to be a slave in Egypt by his jealous brothers. Joseph’s adventures send him to the household of the opulent Potiphar, then to prison, and finally to a coveted position by Pharaoh’s side. When famine strikes Joseph’s family back in Canaan, the traitorous brothers are forced to journey to Egypt where they must confront the one they betrayed. But will Joseph, now rich and successful be forgiving? Directed by Brenden Kortenhaus and musically directed by Robert Sammond, the show features choreography by Caitlin and Christina Brown, and costumes by Kitty Cleary and Carole Malik.

The production is presented through an educational partnership with Pegasus Theater NJ, an initiative led by Marcos Orozco, director of Pegasus Production Company at CBA and chairman of the science department, to promote the theatrical arts year-round at CBA and throughout Monmouth County. As part of this initiative, current CBA students and recent alumni will partner with Premier professionals to enhance their understanding of theatre as an art form and a type of local business. The show is directed by and features performances from CBA alumni and current students, who have participated in Pegasus productions over the years, among a cast of area actors. Premier has also provided multiple behind-the-scenes internships and other educational opportunities in management, technical design, public relations, and program design for high school theatre artists. The result of the collaboration between Premier and Pegasus is a fabulous, star-studded, professional production that showcases the incredible talent of individuals with an immense passion for bringing quality theatre to their community.
