The Canterbury Fair Returns to St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church

Treasure hunters know this is one of the year’s true can’t-miss events: The 71st Annual Canterbury Fair on the beautiful grounds of St. George’s By-the-River in Rumson. This most unique and exquisitely charming event attracts throngs of treasure hunters, families and generous community members.

The 71st Annual Canterbury Fair will be held Saturday, June 8 from 9:30 am to 3 pm, with a special preview day on Friday, June 7 from 2 to 5 pm. It’s a truly old-fashioned fair, packed with activities and refreshments for all ages.

The Friday Preview Sale is the buy-early event for serious shoppers who will pick up wonderful White Elephant sale bargains including pictures/frames/art, furniture, linens, jewelry, books, shabby chic, electronics and appliances, toys and games. The entrance fee is $5.

The Saturday Canterbury Fair offers the same family fun, with everything from Friday as well as the fabulous silent auction, plants and flowers, and sporting goods.

There will be plenty of awesome food for every taste available from the Tea Garden, Canterbury Kitchen, hot dogs, hamburgers as well as the ever-popular lobster lunch.

The kids will love the petting zoo, face painting, a bounce house, cotton candy, balloons and carnival-style games, including a children’s chance auction and Dunk the Reverend dunk tank.

Each year, proceeds from the Canterbury Fair are designated for St. George’s outreach activities that benefit many local charities as well as other parish programs.

St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church also announces a Call to Artists for its annual Canterbury Art Show: a Tapestry of the Arts, the premier local exhibition and sale of juried and non-juried artwork.  The three-day event will take place Saturday, Aug. 31 Monday, Sept. 2.

Artists are invited to visit the event’s website to fill out the Artist Participation Form and register for the event.
