As we settle into the new season, the Holmdel Library continues to offer the newest DVDs, fiction, storytimes for children and special programs. The Holmdel Public Library is located at 101 Crawfords Corner Rd. in Holmdel, in the atrium at Bell Works.

 

FOR CHILDREN

Children’s Storytimes

Thursdays, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21

  • Bouncing Bunnies and Curious Cubs Storytime for ages 18 to 36 months (with parent/caregiver) from 10 to 10:30 am
  • Creativity Corner Storytime and Art for ages 3 to 5 years from 11 to 11:30 am or 2 to 2:30 pm

 

Live Concert with Peas and Carrots Music for ages 3 to 5 years (with parent/caregiver)

Monday, Nov. 18 from 4:30 to 5:15 pm

World War II Turning Points: Critical Battles That Enabled the Allies to Go on the Offense

Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 7 to 8 pm

In World War II, there were five key turning point battles, each which enabled the Allies to mount offensive operations to achieve strategic objectives and ultimately attain victory. This presentation by Paul Zigo will relate what the five critical battles were and their outcomes.

Zigo is the director of the World War II Era Studies Institute, which is dedicated to furthering WWII era knowledge and the war’s impact on history. He was an associate professor of history at Brookdale Community College, a former director at the Center for World War II Studies and a founding member of the National Museum of the US Army.

 

Book Club

Monday, Dec. 2 from 7 to 8 pm

Come for an evening of collaborative discussion with the Book of the Month. Books are available at the circulation desk at no charge with your library card. This month, the facilitator will lead a talk about “Local Girls: A Novel” by Caroline Zancan.

Eyeglass Collection

The Holmdel Library is collecting eyeglasses for New Eyes for the Needy, a nonprofit organization founded in 1932 to improve the vision of those in need. Please bring your old or unwanted eyeglasses to the drop-off box at the library.

 

The New School of Monmouth County Student Art Display

Monday, Nov. 25 through Tuesday, Jan. 7

Stop in at the Holmdel Library to enjoy artwork made by the students of The New School of Monmouth County, where art facilitates learning across all domains. This exhibit will feature four displays created by students ages 5 to 14 year old. They will include The Famous Women Mask and Famous Men Marionette Project, The America Presidents Project, The Construction Disc Tower Project, and The Radial Weaving Project. The exhibits serve as examples of how all areas of the school curriculum can be tied together as they incorporate STEM, fine arts, history, language arts and fine motor skills.
