
Environmental Commission of Little Silver Hosts Compost Day

Little Silver Environmental Day will be held on Saturday, March 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Women’s Club of Little Silver, 111 Church Street, Little Silver. The free event will include a shred truck, electronics recycling, used clothing collection, composting workshop, rain garden workshop, park clean-up, local “green” display tables , and more. Schedule of Events
9:00 a.m. – Kick off Clean up Your Parks Day. Meet at the Women’s Club.
10:00 to 10:45 a.m. -Compost workshop by Rutgers Master Gardener Tom Matulewicz
11:00 to 11:30 a.m. – Rain Garden Workshop by Sickles Market

Electronic Waste Collection will accept “anything with a cord” including televisions which will be properly recycled by Monmouth Wire and Computer Recycling, Inc. For more information, call (732) 922-3320 or visit www.computerreclamation.com.
Monmouth County Residents can also bring their televisions to the Monmouth County Reclamation Center to be properly recycled. For more information, call (732) 683-8686.
Used Clothing Collection – Lunch Break will accept gently used clothing as well as nonperishable food items for their pantry. For more information, call (732) 747-8577 or visit www.lunchbreak.org.
Document Shredding
SafeGuard Document Destruction will provide on-site residential document destruction. The truck will accept paper (staples/paper clips), books (hard and soft cover) but no plastic. The truck has a capacity of 12,000 lbs. and will depart when full. (Residents only, no businesses please.)
Clean Up Your Parks Day
Meet at 9 a.m. at the Women’s Club and proceed to a town park or field (Borough, Challenger, Library, Sickles, Point Road, or Firehouse Field). Gloves and bags provided. “Green” Demonstrations and Display Tables will be on hand with information about local environmental and historical topics provided by Environmental Commission of Little Silver and Parker Homestead—1665. Free tree seedlings will be available.
