Bottoms Up: Laird’s Applejack New Jersey Mule by Huddy’s Inn

While there are a few different types of mules, one ingredient is always consistent: ginger beer. Served in a copper mug to not only keep the drink chilled but enhance the flavor, mules offer that perfect mix of a strong drink masked with a refreshing, crisp yet spicy ginger finish.

The Twist:

The most popular mules have either vodka, tequila or gin as their poison of choice. However, Huddy’s Inn decided to not only go against tradition but take the mule more local by using Laird’s Applejack brandy. Laird & Company is an apple spirits distillery based in Colts Neck. With three centuries of family distilling experience, Laird & Company offers a unique take on a historical favorite.

While any glass can be used, copper mugs are signature for mules. Fill the mug with ice. Pour in 1.5 shots of Laird’s Applejack brandy. Top the drink off with ginger beer. Add a lime wedge for garnish. Voila! This simple yet unique drink will make you the next hit at a party or quiet night in.
