Until recently, Hazlet Township had been, for the most part, lucky to avoid the stolen high-end car epidemic plaguing numerous municipalities throughout the state. There had been a few stolen cars the last few years, however, the town is now seeing recent attempts and successful thefts within its borders on a larger scale.
In the most recent attempt on May 4, unknown actors pried open a window of a residence near the Hazlet Post Office, entered the home and stole a key fob. They then drove away with the resident’s high-end car. This resident had taken several precautions and was still victimized. They blocked their high-end car in the driveway with another vehicle, locked their car doors, brought their keys in the house and locked their house windows, but unfortunately these thieves have become more extraordinarily brazen.
