Upcoming Events at Congregation B’nai Israel of Rumson

By Lori Draz

Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) wishes everyone a new year full of full of family, fun and fellowship. They are working on bringing you many exciting and thought-provoking events throughout the year.

On Thursday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 pm, CBI will host a women’s spirituality group over Zoom entitled “Kol Isha,” which means “Woman’s Voice.” This is open to women only, and those interested should email Gayle Stamer at gaylestamer@gmail.com.

On Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 pm, CBI and event co-sponsor the Red Bank Chapter of Hadassah are proud to welcome Talia Carner, the former publisher of Savvy Woman magazine and award-winning author of five novels, numerous stories and essays. She is also a committed supporter of global human rights and the spearhead of ground-breaking projects centered on female plight and women’s activism. Carner will present The Multi-Headed Dragon: Today’s Sex Trafficking in the United States, a powerful virtual learning event based on her novel “THE THIRD DAUGHTER.”

One-third of human trafficking victims come from abroad, while two-thirds are enslaved locally. Learn how human trafficking operates, including a disturbing Jewish component. Carner examines the roles that the airlines, schools, businesses, hotels, sports arenas, prisons, banks and the internet play, and the options and initiatives to abolish sexual slavery. The registration link can be found at CBIRumson.org. Registration is required to get the Zoom link to attend this important lecture.
