Two Arrested in Middletown Theft and Assault

On Tuesday at approximately 12:25 pm, Ptl. Daniel Flannigan was in the area of Ocean Avenue and Port Monmouth Road in Middletown when he was flagged down by the victim of an armed robbery. The victim, a 17-year-old male, reported he was robbed and assaulted by a person armed with a knife. The victim was not stabbed but did sustain non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the physical assault.

The victim reported he had money and earphones stolen during the robbery. Police were able to recover the victim’s stolen property.

Responding officers investigated the report and subsequently arrested two subjects, Ayonna Williams, 19, of Aberdeen, and a 16-year-old juvenile male of Middletown. Williams was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, conspiracy and employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime. The juvenile was charged with robbery, conspiracy and hindering the apprehension of another. Both subjects are currently in custody awaiting detention.
