Truck Hits Laurel Avenue Bridge… Again

holmdel laurel bridge overpass

This is not the first, second or third time, but a tractor trailer struck the NJ Transit overpass on Laurel Avenue in Holmdel. On Tuesday, August 13 around 9 am, a truck was traveling toward the Holmdel Commons when the truck collided with the overpass causing a delay in traffic.

UPDATE: The disabled tractor trailer has been removed and the roadway is re-opened.

In March 2016, a truck driver hit the bridge and then was arrested for a criminal warrant. Two years later, a FedEx truck hit the bridge. In May 2018, a truck got stuck under the bridge. After numerous accidents at this location, police installed signs reminding truck drivers that their vehicle may not fit underneath. A truck also hit the bridge in July 2018. April 2019 was the first time this year a truck hit the bridge.

Just yesterday a tractor trailer struck power lines on Middle Rd. in Holmdel causing a significant closure to the road.
