Truck Gets Stuck Under Laurel Ave. Bridge… Again

Laurel Ave Brige Truck Stuck

On Wednesday, April 3 at around 7:10 am, a truck got stuck under the bridge on Laurel Ave. in Holmdel. Heavy traffic was reported in the area.

Officers found that the truck was traveling southbound on Laurel Avenue from Hwy 35 and the driver failed to observe numerous warning signs about the bridge clearance. The truck was wedged under the bridge and the resulting removal and cleanup caused Laurel Avenue to be closed on the southbound side for approximately one hour. The northbound lane experienced periodic closures and traffic in the area was heavily delayed.

This is not the first, second, or third time a truck has gotten stuck under this bridge. Most recently, a truck got stuck under the bridge in May and July of 2018. After numerous accidents at this location, police installed signs reminding truck drivers that their vehicle may not fit underneath.

There are no reports currently available as to the current condition of the driver, though the truck did not seem to be in bad condition. The crash investigation is being handled by the NJ Transit Police Department.
