As reported by Sea Bright Fire and Rescue, late in the evening on Friday, Aug. 12, a water rescue assignment was transmitted in Rumson for an overturned canoe with three stranded in the water in the Navesink River.
Upon arrival of land-based units, confirmation was made of an overturned aluminum boat with three subjects still in the water. A Good Samaritan vessel arrived just ahead of Marine 43 and began to rescue two of the victims.
Marine 43 arrived and found the third victim tangled in the boats anchor line, clinging to a stick marker. The victim was disentangled and removed from the water. All three victims were then transported to shore to receive definitive medical care.
