Threads Too – Sewing up Success

Threads Too

Panic broke out the day Diane Baxter and her friends heard the local needlepoint store was closing after 30 years. The stunned stitchers traveled halfway around the state looking for a replacement.

That’s when Diane decided to buy the store and keep it going on her own. Yes, needlepoint is that important! With the help of family and friends, she bought the old business and moved it across the street where there was great light (so important to needle pointing) and a warm happy feeling.

Threads Too was born on Black Friday 2017, and with the help of Victoria, who worked at the prior location for 16 years, they have been busy since they opened.

Diane viewed the move as an opportunity to energize needle pointers and create a bright location where needle pointers could stitch, learn new things, and share ideas.

The work with the old fantastic finishers who turn projects into remarkable heirloom pillows or wall hangings, and some new finishers, as well. There are also new keepsake boxes, cocktail trays, a fresh variety of belts, Christmas ornaments, even whiskey flasks. They’re even developing a program where local artists design a line of canvases exclusively for needleworkers.

Diane has even found a fresh line of exciting new threads, colors, and textiles that are more vibrant, longer lasting, and easier to work with and she’s planning trunk sales with some of America’s most popular needlepoint wholesalers.

Diane says, “Needlepoint has been called yoga for the mind. It’s very relaxing and therapeutic. I would love to develop programs where needlepoint can play a healing role for special needs kids and addiction recovery.”

Threads Too is already on its way. Threads Too is open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 795 River Road in Fair Haven. (732) 530-9092
