Thompson Middle School Halts In-Person Instruction Through Nov. 19

Thompson Middle School in Middletown is the latest to shift students to virtual learning after the district announced more positive COVID-19 cases in the school. There have been six laboratory-confirmed positive cases at Thompson Middle School since Nov. 1.

“This large number of recent cases at Thompson Middle School, along with the significant increase in new cases in the community, has resulted in the need to temporarily close the Thompson Middle School building and pivot to virtual instruction,” district officials said.

In-person instruction will resume on Thursday, Nov. 19.

The district has also provided an additional COVID-19 update regarding Navesink and Lincroft Elementary Schools. An individual associated with Navesink Elementary School and an additional individual at Lincroft Elementary School have tested positive for COVID-19. In both cases, the individuals had no contact with students or staff in the school setting since being exposed.

Most recently, Red Bank Catholic High School was forced to move to virtual learning through Thursday, Nov. 19 after three students tested positive for COVID-19. All athletics have also been canceled through that date.

Red Bank Regional High School also recently announced that classes and activities would not be held on campus through Friday, Nov. 13 after four positive cases were reported in the school community.
