Teen Robbed at Knife-Point in Red Bank, Multiple People Arrested

On Monday, Sept. 2, patrol officers responded to an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Chestnut Street. A 17-year-old victim had been robbed of currency and a cell phone by multiple subjects armed with knives.

A short time later, officers located an individual fitting the description of one of actors. Jose Gustavo Tochihuitl-Vera, a 20-year-old of Red Bank, was ultimately charged in the robbery.

A subsequent weeks-long investigation conducted by members of the detective bureau and patrol division resulted in the arrests of the other involved parties.

Johnathan Scott, 22 years old; Jason Scott, 19 years old; Hector Reyes, 21 years old; and a 16-year-old Red Bank youth were all charged with first degree robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. All of the accused subjects reside in Red Bank with the exception of Reyes who resides in Long Branch.

The adult subjects were all committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, and the juvenile was placed in custody of the Youth Detention Center.
