Summer at the Holmdel Library

For Children

The summer reading program at the Holmdel Public Library begins on June 1, and every member of the family can participate. You can register in the library or from home online. There will be prizes, art contests, and weekly raffles for participants. To get things going, there will be a kickoff special music program held at the Holmdel Community Center at 4:30 p.m. on June 19 for grades one to five. The program will feature everything from acoustic Bach to electric rock, and you get to add sound effects and loop in new sounds for an on-the-spot recording session! Another event will be held on July 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., exploring the night sky with a portable STARLAB planetarium. Call the library for registration information for programs.

Regular story times continue through the summer, with special science programs for various age groups on Mondays. Call the library for details.

For Teens

A Standard CPR and AED course for grades six through 12 will be held on Monday, July 3 at 6:00 p.m. This course will teach those with little or no medical training how to recognize a medical emergency and administer CPR. This is an initial certification course, not a renewal. Students will receive an official HAMES CPR card upon completion. Class size is limited, with registration beginning online or by phone on June 1.

The monthly Young Adult Book Club will continue to meet throughout the summer on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. New members are welcome to join the fun!

The Holmdel Public Library is located at 4 Crawfords Corner Road. Call (732) 946-4118 for more information.
