Structure Fire in North Middletown Over the Weekend

At approximately 1:21 pm on Sunday, Jan. 29, the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 175 Leslie Lane in the North Middletown section of Middletown.

On arrival, Deputy Chief William Kane Jr. reported a confirmed working fire in an attached garage at the above address and requested an upgraded response to the scene. Faced with heavy fire conditions coming from the garage, firefighters from East Keansburg Fire Company and Port Monmouth Fire Company arrived and immediately began fire suppression and ventilation operations. Due to the actions of firefighters, the fire was quickly put under control and major damage was avoided to the main residence.

Under the direction of Deputy Chief Kane, a total of 59 firefighters from the Port Monmouth Fire Company, East Keansburg Fire Company, Independent Fire Company of Belford, and Community Fire Company responded. Additionally, The Middletown Township Fire Department Safety Unit, Air Unit, and Fire Police also responded and assisted on scene. Medical services from Port Monmouth and Middletown EMS stood by for the duration of operations. No injuries were reported. All units were cleared from the scene by 3:00pm.

The fire is under the investigation of the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s office, under the direction of Fire Official Edward Skelly.
