SJV Softball Boasts a Roster Filled with Experienced Returnees
By Les Pierce

SJV pitcher Kylie Ferris
Saint John Vianney softball Head Coach Kim Lombardi-McDougall is in an envious position. The Lancers are coming off a highly successful season with three frosh starters, and only a single player has been lost to graduation. It appears this team can only improve.ย
Returning from the 2022 squad are Holly Lovett (Sr. IF), Grace Colucci (Sr. OF), Elisabeth Figliolino (So. C), Nicole Giglio (So. IF/OF), Kylie Ferris (Jr. P), Jordyn Gautier (Jr. OF), Giuliana Cardin (Jr. IF), Kelli Plumaker (So. C/OF) and Isabelle Cattelona (Jr. IF/OF).
Last year, Lovett batted for a .536 average, drove in 31 RBI and slammed four homeruns. She was selected to the Shore Coaches B-North All-Division Team and the APP.com All-Shore Third Team.
Colucci posted a .371 average, brought in 31 RBI and cleared the fence eight times. She was named to the Shore Coaches B-North All-Division Team and the APP.com All-Shore Second Team. She fulfills a secondary role as a relief pitcher with a .375 ERA.
Playing as a freshman last season, Figliolino averaged .352, hit eight doubles and two homers and was credited with 20 RBI. ย
Fellow frosh starter Nicole Giglio hit for a .409 average and contributed 19 RBI. She was rostered to the Shore Coaches B-North All-Division Team. Gautier batted .348 and drove in 16 RBI.
Kylie Ferris got the starting nod on the mound for all 22 games played last year. She fanned 132 over 123 innings and posted a .301 ERA. The junior hurled three one hit games and was rostered to the APP.com All-Shore Second Team. ย
Last year, SJV went undefeated 14-0 in B-North to capture the division title. The Lancers advanced in the NJSIAA South Jersey Non-Public A Tournament but were ultimately turned back by St. Thomas Aquinas via a 7-6 tally. Completing the 2023 season with a state title is a solid possibility for this squad. ย
