Shrewsbury Senior Homesteaders Welcome You

By Lori Draz

Left to right: Vice president Carolyn Alt, recording secretary Celia Tracy, president Bob Donohue, membership chair Barbara Walter, treasurer Ruth Lyons, and chaplain Jerry Viracola of the Shrewsbury Senior Homesteaders

The Shrewsbury Senior Homesteaders is a very friendly group of fascinating seniors who are just waiting to have you join. This active organization is open to anyone age 50 and older. Contact membership chair Barbara Walter at (732) 380-0163 and she will be delighted to share more information. The group meets at 1:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month, September through June, at the church hall of Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury, just behind Christ Church at 352 Sycamore Avenue in Shrewsbury.

On May 11, the group hosted author and local historian Rick Geffken, who offered a fun presentation and autographed copies of his recently published book, Lost Amusement Parks of the North Jersey Shore. The last meeting before the summer break will be on June 8, when the group will enjoy a luncheon at Bahrs Landing, on the water in Highlands. Bruce Foster will be playing guitar. The cost is $30 per person, and seating is limited. Looking ahead, the first event of the fall will be held on September 14, when Doug Friedman, author and music historian, will discuss the Biography of the Mills Brothers. Come out and have fun with new friends!
