Second Pedestrian Rail Strike in Monmouth County in Two Days

A pedestrian has died as a result of a North Jersey Coast Line train accident in Monmouth County.

As announced on NJ Transit Twitter account, at approximately 8 am today, a North Jersey Coast Line train from Long Branch to New York Penn Station fatally struck a female pedestrian in the area of Red Bank.

A total of 37 people were on board the train at the time of the accident. No one on board was injured. Service was delayed 45 minutes due to the strike, and service on the line was suspended until 12:30 this afternoon.

This was the second pedestrian fatality due to a NJCL train in two days. On Thursday, Oct. 15, a man was killed by the tracks in the area of Hazlet after being hit by NJ Transit train.
