Second Annual Chili Cook-Off at Colts Neck Community Church

On Super Bowl Sunday, over 200 people gathered in Colts Neck Community Church’s fellowship hall for the “hottest” event of the year: the second annual Chili Cook-Off. Some came to compete, but many just came to eat.

Judges and winners gathered at the Chili Cook-Off

There were 18 different chili entries, judged by some of Colts Neck’s finest: Tom Hennessey, director of Parks and Recreation, Sue Fitzpatrick, president of the Colts Neck Business Association and owner of Fitzpatrick Printing Solutions, Colts Neck Mayor Russell Macnow, Jay Steingold, captain at Earle Naval Base, and Dan Simon, principal of Colts Neck High School. The top three entries were acknowledged and the winner of the Chili Cook-Off was awarded a $50 gift card to Delicious Orchards. Third place winner was Scott Mitchell, second place was Anna Braun, and first place was awarded to Donna Berry.

“Nothing brings the world together like a delicious bowl of chili,” said Pastor Chris Durkin. “Our annual Chili Cook-Off is great time of fun and fellowship during the frigid weather of February.” Colts Neck Community Church would love to have you compete, or just come to eat, at next year’s Chili Cook-Off!
