Wrestler Scott Dupont has rewritten the Holmdel record books, breaking the career victory mark. Dupont tied and broke the record on the same day, at a Barnegat quad meet on January 13. Scott tied the previous mark of 121 wins, set by Troy Gallo just last season, with a pin over Manchester’s Joseph Pender at 1:16 into the match. About an hour later the senior broke the record when he pinned Stephen Jennings of Barnegat in just 39 seconds.
Dupont reached the 100 win milestone in his junior year and finished that campaign with 104 victories. He also won the District 20 championship at 152 pounds, finished third in the Regions and was Holmdel’s first state qualifier since 1984. This year he competes at 170 pounds and currently boasts an 18-1 record.
