Schools on Lockdown, Armed Subject Spotted in Ocean County

An armed subject has been spotted in the Tuckerton/Parkerton Area, according to a Nixle alert released just before noon Thursday. Now he may be fleeing the area by train.

All area schools are currently on lockdown. The armed and dangerous subject was last seen riding an adult tricycle in the Tuckerton/Parkerton Area. Route 539 is closed between First Avenue and Nugentown Road. Police said not to approach the subject but to instead call 911 immediately with pertinent information.

The investigation is active.

According to the Ocean County Scanner News Facebook page, “The subject was picked up by a Lyft / Uber driver in a silver car. According to radio traffic, the driver contacted police after he dropped him off at the Union Rail Station. New Jersey State Police advised the local and county authorities in that area to be on the lookout for the subject.”
