Salon CoCo BOND Spa helps clients with cancer

Barbara Olsen and Gina Stamatis

Two CoCo BOND estheticians recently completed specialized cancer care training through Oncology Spa Solutions, learning how to provide comfort and relief to those who have undergone cancer treatment, or who are currently receiving treatment.

The three-day training class provided Barbara Olsen and Gina Stamatis with a foundational understanding of cancer and cancer treatments. They learned how cancer impacts a clientโ€™s skin, and how professionals in the beauty industry can help. The class was taught by Becky Brooks-Kuehn, a cancer survivor who created the Oncology Esthetics-USA Training Program.

Olsen has over 20 years of training and education in skincare and reiki. She has utilized her compassion and healing nature to help clients with compromised health feel more positive and have an overall better sense of well-being. Olsen formerly owned Manifique Nail Spa at the Galleria in Red Bank.

Stamatis started her own non-profit 501c3, Pure Grace Foundation, to help people living with cancer get beauty treatments. Stamatis has also volunteered Mary’s Place by the Sea (a retreat for women with cancer) and the ACS “Look Good, Feel Better” program.

The effects that cancer treatments have on the skin can range from dryness and sensitivity, to deep dehydration and inflammation. To properly understand cancer in relation to the skin, as well as the detailed knowledge of proper products and ingredients, helps to safely reduce the skin-related side effects of certain treatments.

Salon CoCo BOND Spa offers an Oncology Soothing Facial to relieve skin issues brought on by treatments, as well as provide an emotional oasis to relax, recharge and feel cared for. For details, call Erin McCabe or Christie Citsay at 732-383-5067, or e-mail
