Rumson Preschool Welcomes Newest Bulldogs

The Rumson Public School District is pleased to announce year eight of the implementation of its integrated preschool program. Rumson’s preschool program’s primary goal is to provide developmentally appropriate educational experiences that build a strong foundation for future academic success. All children in this program are encouraged to grow socially, cognitively, emotionally, and physically, and to have fun doing so. The district’s vision is to establish a program that improves early childhood education practices and develops the highest quality preschool program. To accomplish these goals, Rumson has partnered with the New Jersey Departments of Children and Families, Education, Health, and Human Services to enhance their preschool program and offerings.

On February 1, Deane-Porter Elementary held its first preschool open house. This year, Rumson rolled out a simplified live lottery process held on March 9. Applicants were selected during a random drawing. Rumson was happy to welcome 17 new students and families into the program; double their enrollment from the last year.

Michael Snyder, Supervisor of Special Services, commented, “Family involvement is an important aspect of our program. We want to ensure our families have all the tools and information at their disposal to navigate the process. The district has worked hard to implement a program that supports the development of our children’s language, literacy, and behavioral skills, as well as their awareness of the world around them.”

The newest additions to the Bulldog family will begin in September 2017. The program serves three- and four-year-olds. Deane-Porter School is proud of its newly implemented research-based preschool program and the foundation it has built for the top-rated levels of academic performance.
