Red Bank Public Library Programs

By Gena Ansell-Lande

It’s an exciting month at the Red Bank Public Library, with National Library Week right around the corner. There will be some special raffles and a fine forgiveness all throughout the week. Also, the library has new extended hours on Saturdays. They will now be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every Saturday.

Author Talk – April 8 at 2:00 p.m.

Join author Matthew Quirk for a fascinating discussion about his bestselling first novel, The 500, which is currently in development as a major motion picture. He grew up in the area and studied at Harvard University. Although he now lives in California, he is in the area on a promotional tour for his latest book, Dead Man Switch, that will be available for purchase at this event.

National Library Week – April 9-15

The theme for the week is “Libraries Transform” and there will be special programs, events, and activities. All fines will be forgiven that week, but patrons must come into the library to take advantage of this opportunity. Enjoy plenty of raffles and giveaways. In fact, everyone who checks out materials that week will be entered into a raffle in either the Adult Department or Children’s Room. Come find out how the Red Bank Public Library truly does “transform” our community.

Let’s Talk About Race – April 26 at 7:00 p.m.

This always-fascinating discussion series continues this month and invites participants to explore issues of race, gender, and culture in the context of literary works. Mixed media presentations and guest speakers will support the themes of the discussion. Registration is requested.

Computer Tutor – Fridays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays starting at 10:00 a.m.

Learn computer and internet basics from knowledgeable volunteers. Please call the reference desk to register.
