Red Bank Library Happenings

By Gena Ansell-Lande

This is going to be an exciting year for the Red Bank Public Library, as they celebrate their 80th anniversary. Be on the lookout for new initiatives, additional hours, enhanced digital offerings, and many engaging programs for adults, children, and families.

Also be sure to check out the calendar on their brand new website for monthly offerings, and look for an 80th anniversary calendar highlighting a few special events. One date that you will want to save is the grand reopening of their Local History Room, with a special reception on May 20.

The Red Bank Public Library is located at 84 West Front Street, Red Bank. Visit or call (732) 842-0690.

Vintage Valentine’s Day Party

February 4 at 11:00 a.m.

As the library celebrates their 80th anniversary, they will host a Vintage Valentine’s Day Party for patrons of all ages. Come and make a special Valentine craft and enjoy delicious treats in the Historic Eisner Room.

In other library news, the Foundation for the Red Bank Public Library recently sent out its third annual appeal to build financial support for their many new programs and collections. The benefits of having a strong library in the community are many. Currently, cardholders can instantly borrow digital movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, eBooks, magazines, and comics, all from the comfort of their own homes, for free. They also have access to databases and learning programs such as Rosetta Stone and Universal Class. Of course, the library is also widely known for the myriad of free programs for adults, children, and teens, providing the opportunity for community members to expand their horizons and meet their neighbors. The library has set a goal of $20,000 for this year’s appeal, with the funds being dedicated to the five goals established by the library’s strategic plan. Donations may be made in person, by mail, or online at Because of the generosity of so many supporters, the Red Bank Public Library continues to be a vital part of our community.
