Red Bank Catholic Gets Set for Spring to Take Center Stage

By Lori Draz

The Red Bank Catholic (RBC) Music and Dance Department is busy putting together their Spring Dance and Music Concert, “A Celebration of Song and Dance.” This always-entertaining show is the big concert of the season and is always a sold-out affair.

“A Celebration of Song and Dance” will be held on May 19 and 20. This is the first team show from the two departments and everyone is very excited about the collaboration. The evening will include great classical music performed by the RBC Orchestra, the glorious voices of the award-winning choir, and the talented dance students who create visual art while the music plays.

Highlights from the show include selections from classic musical theater like “West Side Story,” “Carmen,” and “Phantom of the Opera,” to name a few. Music director Shawn Mack and dance director Stacy Bascom hope that this is the first of many collaborations to come. Tickets will go on sale the first week of May through the Red Bank Catholic website, www.redbankcatholic.org.

The Red Bank Catholic Performing Arts Department also just completed their rendition of one of the most beloved fairytales of all time, “Cinderella.” The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic starred senior John Gnazzo as Prince Christopher, senior Samantha Siriani as the evil stepmother, and senior Samantha Ventola and junior Devlin Stark as the evil sisters. Cinderella was played by junior Miranda Franco. The show was directed by Alana Herron, with musical direction by Shawn Mack and choreography by Kelly Gemellaro.
