Popular Restaurant, Entertainment Attraction on the Horizon for Monmouth County

Freehold Raceway Mall may be further enhancing its appeal to the public with the addition of two new, exciting businesses.

The old Sears location at the Freehold Raceway Mall will be getting a total overhaul as the bowling and amusements centric Round1 may be coming to town. According to a local radio station, Freehold Raceway Mall is in preliminary talks with the Japan-based entertainment company to take over the Sears space.

Round1 is a multi-entertainment facility offering bowling, arcades, karaoke and so much more. Freehold would be only the second location in New Jersey to be home to this family-friendly entertainment center, with a location in New Deptford currently being developed.

Round1 Entertainment’s roots started in Japan and in 2008 expanded to the states. Round1 not only offers entertainment and parties, but will also have dining and bar options, making it an all-around amusing experience for all ages.

The mall will also be offering a new dining experience with the ever-so-popular Popeyes fried chicken chain coming to the food court.

When one door closes, another one opens at the Freehold Raceway Mall.

UPDATE: The Round1 proposal to take over the previous Sears location has been rejected by the township Planning Board. According to Planning Board Chairman A. Richard Gatto, the original plan was “too intensive for the proposed location.”

Frank Lucia, senior property manager at Freehold Raceway Mall, released a statement addressing the rejected plan, saying, “We have enjoyed a history of working with our township to deliver on a vision of success for Freehold. We look forward to this continuing as we identify creative new and non-traditional uses to bring to the center.”
