Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward in Brick Motorcycle Accident

Police are actively investigating the cause of a serious accident that left one motorcyclist injured.

Officers responded to Brick Boulevard shortly after 7 pm Monday after receiving a report of a crash involving a Honda Civic and a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle, according to Brick Township Police Sergeant Keith Donnelly.

Police said Kathleen Kornas, 69, of Brick, was turning left from a Brick Boulevard southbound lane into the Bay Harbor Plaza, when she struck 36-year-old Christopher Cincis, of Toms River, on his motorcycle.

Cincis was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and remains hospitalized. Kornas did not sustain any injuries.

According to authorities, Cincis had the right of way as he traveled north on Brick Boulevard.

The Traffic Safety Unit is now investigating the accident to determine if speed was a factor in the crash.

Anyone who has any information or may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Officer David Thergesen at 732-451-2037.
