Police Investigate Threat Made to Hazlet Camp

On Wednesday, July 21, Hazlet police were made aware of a threatening social media post toward Camp Coconuts, held at the Hazlet Swim Club.
“Although these types of threats cause great concern for all, we are happy to announce that we were able to identify the juvenile who was responsible for posting the threat,” Holmdel police wrote.
After a thorough investigation led by Hazlet Township Police, it was revealed that the threat was made by a 13-year-old juvenile from Holmdel Township, who had previous ties to the camp.
Police spoke with the child and the parents. It was determined that there were no means to carry out the threat and therefore was no risk posed to the community.
The investigation is ongoing, however, police said they are confident that there is no credible threat to Camp Coconuts, Hazlet Day Camp or the Hazlet Swim Club.
