PNC Bank Arts Center to Begin Drive-Through Testing Today

Gov. Phil Murphy has announced the opening of a coronavirus testing site in Monmouth County this week.

New Jersey’s second drive-through testing center will be at PNC Bank Arts Center starting today at 8 am. There are currently limited resources – testing kits, protective gear and personnel – to test everybody, so elected officials have advised that only symptomatic or at-risk individuals will be tested. Anyone getting tested will need a valid New Jersey ID. The center can only be accessed from the Garden State Parkway via exit 116. The local street access from Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel will be closed off, and only police and emergency personnel will be allowed through. Pedestrian traffic will not be allowed.

This is the second testing site in New Jersey.

A second Federal Emergency Management Agency site opened Friday at Bergen County Community College. Priority for testing at the Bergen County site is being given to those who exhibit signs of the virus, including fever, cough and shortness of breath.

The Bergen County site plans to test as many as 2,500 people per week, though it did have to close early on Friday after reaching maximum capacity in just four hours.

“Expanding access to testing is critical in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and flattening the curve in New Jersey,” Murphy said.
