A peaceful protest is planned to take place in Red Bank tomorrow, June 9, to celebrate the life of George Floyd.

Floyd was an African American man who was murdered by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on May 25.

The route will begin at the top of Marine Park in Red Bank, and protestors will march from Broad Street to the Count Basie Park.

According to Police Chief Darren McConnell, the event is being organized by Calvary Baptist Church of Red Bank along with an organization called Count the Children.

โ€œWe have met with the organizers and are assisting them with coordinating the march and protest,โ€ McConnell said, as first reported by TapInto Red Bank.

According to Red Bank Green, the planned march and rally are scheduled to begin at 3 pm.

Participants will start at Marine Park and head south on Broad Street.ย From there, protesters will continue the march to East Bergen Place and Drs. James Parker Boulevard, down South Bridge Avenue to Newman Springs Road, east to Henry Street and north into the Count Basie Park entrance.
