Obituary of Patricia Pecoraro

Patricia Pecoraco Colts Neck NJ

Patricia A. Pecoraro, 42, of Colts Neck, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 8.

Patricia was the most selfless, thoughtful, beautiful, kind, giving, generous and trustworthy person. To know her made you want to be a better person. She made the most of every day and knew not only how to work hard but also how to have fun.

Patricia was born in Red Bank and raised in West Long Branch. She attended Shore Regional High School. At Shore Regional, Patricia achieved varsity status 11 times for swimming, cheerleading, and track and field. She loved music and theater and was always involved in the school plays.

Patricia volunteered at the Embrace Kids Foundation which works with children who have cancer and sickle cell anemia. She ran a dance marathon to raise money for the charity, volunteered at a Christmas party for kids who weren’t able to go home on Christmas and served Thanksgiving dinner at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital and the Freehold Borough YMCA.

She also was a lifeguard for six years at Ocean Beach Club in Eatontown. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Monmouth University.

After college, Patricia married the love of her life, Michael Pecoraro. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Isabella and Sophia. She cherished quality time with her husband, especially a candlelight dinner, a good glass of wine, times at the club, attending sporting events, vacationing in Delray and taking late-night swims. Patricia was happiest spending time with her children – listening to, learning from and teaching them. She encouraged them to achieve whatever they set their minds to, all while guiding them to become the intelligent, kind and caring individuals they are today.

Patricia was a CCD teacher at St. Mary’s Church, where she was also an active parishioner and a part of a Bible study group. She served as co-president of the Colts Neck PTO, was class mom every year for her daughters, a teacher’s aide at Winding Brook School, a fundraising director, sponsorship director, computer mom, library mom and Gala Committee member.

Patricia often referred to herself as a “professional volunteer.” She enjoyed cooking, working out, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Her primary passion was her family – be it spending time at home, cheering her daughters on at school or traveling. Patricia also had many friends who became “chosen family” for whom she cared deeply. Anyone who had the chance to get to know Patricia will no doubt always remain touched by her warmth and kindness. Patricia was known to family, and most friends, as “Favorite Aunt”.  Whether you were a blood relative or not, she would easily become your most trusted confidante and right arm.

Patricia is predeceased by her father Gordon Mast, and in-laws Anthony and Vera Pecoraro. She is survived by her mother Susan Mast of West Long Branch; her husband Michael Pecoraro and their two daughters, Isabella and Sophia, of Colts Neck; her sister and brother-in-law Christine and Michael Haney, and their children Connor and Bryce of West Long Branch; Anthony and Jill Pecoraro, and their children Samantha and Connor O’Leary, of Powell, Ohio; Melissa Pecoraro of Powell, Ohio; Theodore and Linda Pecoraro and their children Daria and T.J of Warren; and great-nieces Dylan and Reese O’Leary; and her furry love, dog Millie.

Visitation will be on Monday, Jan. 14th from 3 to 7 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road. A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 1 Phalanx Road in Colts Neck.

In lieu of sending traditional remembrances, Patricia’s family has asked to please consider donations to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society or the American Heart Association. Letters of condolence may be sent at holmdelfuneralhome.com
