Nominations for 12th Annual Basie Awards

The Count Basie Theatre has announced the nominations for the 12th annual Basie Awards. The Basies are structured to emulate Broadway’s Tony Awards. The Basie program was initiated in 2006 as a vehicle to recognize excellence in shore area high school theater productions.

This year’s Basie nominations for Navesink area schools in the major acting and direction categories for dramas are as follows: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama: Ricardo Davis, Middletown South, for “The Government Inspector” and Max Portman, Red Bank Regional, for “The Crucible.” Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama: Luke Pearlberg, Red Bank Regional, for “The Crucible.” Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama: Samantha Siriani, Red Bank Catholic, for “The Odd Couple.” Outstanding Direction in a Drama: Alexis Kozak, Middletown South, for “The Government Inspector” and Reuben Jackson, Red Bank Regional, for “The Crucible.”

Nominations for major acting and direction categories for musicals are as follows: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical: John Gnazzo, Red Bank Catholic, for “Cinderella,” Luke Pearlberg,  Red Bank Regional, for “Kismet,” and Mike Guarino, Trinity Hall, for “Seussical.” Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical: Lucy McGinty, Ranney School, for “Smile.” Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical: Connor McCormick, Middletown South, for “The Producers.” Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical: Samantha Siriani, Red Bank Catholic, for “Cinderella,” Savannah Connolly, Mater Dei Prep, for “Cry-Baby,” and Samantha Ventola, Red Bank Catholic, for “Cinderella.” Outstanding Direction in a Musical: Alana Herron, Red Bank Catholic, for “Cinderella.”
