The Middletown Township Fire Department responded to a call of a structure fire in the Bamm Hollow section of Middletown at approximately 7:30 pm yesterday. In the firemen’s initial reports, it was discovered that flames were issuing from the windows of the two-story structure at 58 Fish Hawk Dr.

Search and rescue teams confirmed that the occupants of the home had evacuated. Not only was the fire coming from the windows, but firemen were working to dispel flames that were coming from the back of the structure, reaching the first and second floors.

The fire was called under control around 8:20 pm, and the scene was cleared by 10:05 pm.

According to Lincroft Fire Company, 55 members from five companies in the area responded to the structure fire, including those from Belford Engine, Community, Middletown Number 1, River Plaza Hose and Lincroft Fire Companies. The MTFD Air Unit and the Safety Unit also responded to the scene.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.

The fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

Just last week, the Middletown Fire Department was dispatched to a two-story structure fire with explosions at 20 Alexander Dr. in the River Plaza section of town.
