News From the Oceanic Library

Acclaimed local artist Mike Quon created a painting to honor the 100th anniversary of the library.

The Oceanic Free Library wishes everyone a safe and happy start to the summer. The staff members are looking forward to the day when they can see everyone in person again, but until then, they are happy to share that they are now offering contactless, curbside pickup. Pickup will be available Monday through Friday from 11 am to 2 pm. You may place holds three ways. You can reserve title via the web at, by calling 732-842-2692 or emailing

Your selections will be tagged with your name and placed in plastic bags which will be loaded on a table located at the back door of the library.

The library also has the Summer Reading List books available for Rumson-Fair Haven High School, Forrestdale School and Deane-Porter Elementary School.

The Summer Reading Club, “SCIENCETELLERS,” is also underway through Monday, Aug. 31. The videos, “Dragons Jr. – Episode 1: Lost & Found” and “Dragons: Return of the Ice Sorceress,” can be viewed on Vimeo through that date.

The library is also offering a wonderful assortment of children’s activities and Summer Reading Club programs – all online and available all summer long.

When the library does open, staff will practice the appropriate safety measures including wearing face masks and maintaining safe social distancing. No clubs or live events are scheduled until further notice. Registration is required for some programs, so visit or call 732-842-2692.
