New Jersey State and County Parks Closed, Testing Site Updates

Thompson Park Day 2019 Lincroft Middletown New Jersey

Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order today to close all state and county parks in New Jersey. Due to the continued gathering and socializing of groups in the parks, Murphy said he feels this is necessary mandate. In order to stay the course, and focusing efforts to flatten the curve of COVID-19, it was essential to close these open space areas.

“I do not take this action lightly,” Murphy said during today’s press conference. “Some of my fondest memories with my own children are beautiful spring days in parks playing soccer and enjoying our family. But my focus and my sole mission in life right now is the health of every New Jersey family.”

The governor also gave updates on hours of service for the remainder of the week for COVID-19 PNC Arts Center and Bergen Community College testing sites, as well as the opening of the Gloucester County testing site at Rowan College.

  • PNC Bank Arts Center drive-thru: Open Wednesday, April 8 at 8 am for a total of 500 tests
  • Bergen Community College: Reopen Thursday, April 9 for 500 tests
  • Both sites will be open Saturday, April 11 for 500 tests each and will be closed Easter Sunday

The Gloucester County testing site will open for the first time on Wednesday, April 8 for Gloucester County residents and by appointment only.  A pre-screening is mandatory, and can be done by calling 856-218-4142.
