Nearly 200 Dogs Seized From NJ Home, Now Being Treated

On Tuesday, June 11, 170 dogs were taken away from a property by police in Hunterdon County.

The Monmouth County Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals, St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center and a Kingwood state trooper spent the day taking the dogs away from the property. The dogs were discovered in terrible conditions as they suffered from multiple illnesses ranging from infections to sores.

NJ Dogs seized hoard hunterdon county 2019 1Monmouth County SPCA Executive Director Ross Licitra said the home owner is a longtime professional breeder and had been involved with show dogs.

“Unfortunately, there were some deceased dogs that were there,” Licitra said. “Like any other normal hoarding situation, there was just a massive amount of dogs that needed to be gathered that weren’t being cared for properly.”
