Navesink River Road to be Closed Next Week

Beginning Monday, Sept. 13, Navesink River Road will be closed between McClees Road and Club Way, according to Middletown police.

The road will close to replace the bridge over McClees Creek.

The bridge is being replaced due to age and normal deterioration from vehicular traffic during its years in service. This project originally started construction in April 2021 but due to issues underground, the work was postponed until after the summer.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this road closure causes as the bridge is being replaced,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. “We appreciate the patience of those who travel on Navesink River Road during this construction project and will work to get it done as quickly as possible.”

An end date for the road closure has not been released.

Detours will be posted. Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area and plan an alternate route.

The work is anticipated to be completed by the spring of 2022.
