Navesink River Road Closed as Protestors, Police Block Traffic

Traffic is building up along Navesink River Road and in the surrounding area as protestors are blocking the roadway outside Gov. Phil Murphy’s house.

Navesink River Road west of Patterson Lane is closed, with police lining the streets and blocking traffic. Drivers coming from Sea Bright and Rumson are being delayed, and fellow travelers are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Middletown police are on scene but would not disclose the nature of the protest.

Many business owners have rallied recently against Murphy’s guidelines as COVID-19 cases in the state and nation continue to increase. On Saturday, New Jersey reported 3,924 new cases of coronavirus and 24 additional deaths.
