Must-Visit Spots and Fun, Seasonal Events in Monmouth County This Fall

By Julia Mortimer

It’s the season of crisp air and jack-o-lanterns. The haunted mazes and hot apple cider are among us, but which spots are the best to get your fall on? I have taken the liberty of finding them for you!

Eastmont Orchards

The orchard in Colts Neck has been a fall staple since 1923 as a pick-your-own apple, peach and pumpkin orchard. The fall favorite is home to a number of different kinds of fruit throughout the fall for anyone and everyone’s tastes. The staff also sells honey, jams and sunflowers as they are available. Once you pick your fresh fruit, Eastmont Orchards offers apple pie recipes on its website. The farm is open through the end of October and is located at 321 Route 537 in Colts Neck.

Oak Hill Farms

A recent opening in the area was this Holmdel gem. With delicious jams, honey and cold brew, it’s just the pit stop you need to make to complete a yummy fall meal. The quaint farm just opened in late August. It is home to alpacas, goats and a plethora of goods, including fresh produce, flowers, homemade candles, coffee and more. It truly is beautiful inside and definitely worth checking out this fall!

Highlands Annual Oktoberfest

What’s a fall season without a pint of Oktoberfest beer? Highlands is hosting its 20th annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Veterans Park. The festival is based upon the traditional Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. There will be authentic german cuisine, live music and dancing. Admission and parking is free. Throughout the day, there will be a Best-Dressed Contest and a Beer Stein Holding Contest with special prizes as well as a 50/50 drawing. The event will take place between 2 and 9 pm at 23 Bay Ave. in Highlands. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 4.

Ocean Grove Fall Harvest Festival

On Saturday, Oct. 10, the Ocean Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall harvest festival with more than 200 crafters and artisans. It is free admission, and there will be live music by Jo Wymer & Band and Chuck Lambert Blues. The event will be held from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. Masks are required.

Delicious Orchards

Delicious Orchards is a farm and country food market. Home to fall-themed everything, it is the spot to get the best apple pie and cider. Located in the heart of Colts Neck at 320 Route 34, Delicious Orchards offers apple and peach picking when fruit is in season as well as gift baskets which include some of their famous baked goods and fresh produce.

Long Branch Fall Bazaar

At Long Branch’s Fall Bazaar, visitors are invited to “shop small and celebrate fall” with artisan vendors, craft beer and music by a DJ. The event takes place the weekend of Oct. 24 and 25 from 2 to 7 pm. The bazaar will be held at the Whitechapel Projects, 15 Second Ave. in Long Branch. It will be held outdoors and will be following all of the appropriate CDC-recommended protocols to ensure safety. Vendors will offer artistic goods while food and drink are served. Halloween and fall-themed “selfie walls” will be available for attendees to take photos. On Saturday, there will be a Halloween costume contest with prizes for best-dressed adult and pet. On Sunday, the contest will award the best-dressed child and baby. Brock Farms

With an abundance of pumpkins to choose from for carving and corn maze hayrides to enjoy this fall, Brock Farms makes for the perfect family-friendly day trip to get in the Halloween spirit. Brock Farms’ Fall-o-Ween superstore is open seven days a week. The Colts Neck location, at 375 Route 34, is open on weekends for hayrides, pick-your-own pumpkins and corn maze experiences. Both locations, including 4189 Route 9 in Freehold, offer decorations, pumpkins, mums, gourds, hay bales and cornstalks all season. For more information and special deals, click here.

A. Casola Farms

Another absolute must-visit this season is A. Casola Farms. The farm and garden shop offers hayrides pumpkin picking, the opportunity to interact with farm animals and a bakery offering fresh food. Every Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm through Halloween, visitors are invited to take on the corn maze. Every weekend in October, there will be a Wild West Show at 1, 2 and 3 pm. Seating is limited. A. Casola Farms is located at 178 Route 34 in Holmdel.
