Motorcycle and Vehicle Crash in Brick Township, Motorcyclist Sustains Injuries

On Oct. 6 at 7:43 pm, the Brick Township Police Department responded in the area of Brick Boulevard just south of Route 70 for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was in the right lane of travel, turning left onto Brick Boulevard southbound from Route 70 West. An unknown vehicle making the same turn but traveling in the left lane made an unsafe lane change in an attempt to enter the jug handle for Route 70 East. That vehicle cut off the motorcycle, causing the biker to brake hard and attempt to lay the motorcycle down.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike, sustaining injuries to his face and head.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. The motorcyclist was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash. Vehicular traffic on Brick Boulevard southbound from Route 70 was detoured for approximately 90 minutes during the investigation.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Ptl. David Thergesen from the Brick Township Traffic Safety Unit.

Witnesses on the scene reported the unknown vehicle may have been a newer white-colored Jeep Cherokee. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the crash is asked to contact Ptl. David Thergesen at 732-451-2037.
