Monmouth County Police Officer Rescues Driver from Burning Vehicle

The Howell Township Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident that resulted in a fiery crash over the weekend.

On Saturday, Nov. 21 at approximately 7:45 pm, Howell police officer Nicholas Volpe came upon a crash on Manassa Road in Howell. The officer rushed to the scene and pulled the trapped driver out of the driver-side window of the car.

According to News12, Volpe assisted the disoriented driver out of the car, whom had minor injuries. Though the cause of the accident is not determined, it has been confirmed that while the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash, they did admit to using a cell phone prior to the crash.

Howell Police Chief Andrew Kudrick told News12, “The driver is doing fine and was only slightly injured. He was seen limping, but walking away with the officer’s help.”

Volpe was not hurt and returned to his shift that same night.
