Middletown Township Updates Community on Park Closures, Restrictions

In an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 and encourage social distancing, Middletown Township released today via Middletown Recreation an update on event cancelations as well as parks and playground closings.

All play structures and playground are closed until further notice, as well as fields and courts. The township is clear in communicating that this includes all organized, as well as unorganized team play on the courts and fields of Middletown property.

“Fields and courts are closed to any organized or unorganized team play, practices, or training.”

As of Thursday, March 19, activity could still be seen on the Nut Swamp Athletic Turf in Middletown.

The update also mentions that the permits have been canceled, and lights have been turned off.

Towns all over New Jersey are implementing the same safety precautions as the virus continues to spread throughout multiple counties.

A park in Little Silver is surrounded by caution tape as local towns cancel recreation events, including unorganized sport.

All recreation programs have been canceled, as well as events associated with the senior center including a theatrical performance of “Chicago” at High School North, as well as “Mamma Mia” at High School South.

The township continues to advocate the practice of social distancing. For more up-to-date information on COVID-19 provided by the township, click here.
