Middletown Township Fire Department Conducts Live Training Drill

Early one recent Sunday morning, more than 75 local volunteer firefighters from the Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD), along with several other fire departments in Monmouth County, participated in a large-scale training exercise to practice the deployment of “pipelines” at the New Jersey National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt. The purpose of the drill is to simulate a situation in which the firefighters need to create a pipeline from a local water source to stop a fire.
According to Monmouth County Pipeline 7’s Coordinator and Middletown Township Fire Department Ex-Chief Doug Corbet, the drill was a resounding success. He said, “It is pretty much physically impossible to establish a pipeline over that distance any quicker.” MTFD Chief Tony Citarella echoed his sentiments.
Thank you to all the volunteers for their efforts!
